Encouragement As The Amplifier

encouragement. And I call encouragement the amplifier frequency. Literally, when we encourage people, and I had a great mentor in my life 25 years ago, she had one of the largest youth ministries in the country. And the one thing that I learned from her was the power of encouragement and words. And guys, scripture says in Proverbs that the power of life and death are in the tongue. The word encouragement, guys, literally means to add courage to. So as we're doing life with one another and you see someone who needs encouragement, literally, when you breathe encouragement, when you speak encouragement, when you call out purpose and destiny in someone's life, what you're doing is you're giving them the ability to borrow your courage. You're giving them the ability to go, hey, listen, I see something in you. You may not even see it right now. I had this happen this weekend at Investfest. A really close friend of mine, his wife, actually did the panel for Philip Anthony Mitchell and Tim Timberlake and Touray Roberts. And she did the panel. She came off stage, and got it, give me a word for it. It doesn't happen a ton, but it's one of those things to where I just looked at her and I said, God has more in you than you realize. Like I know you're a visionary and you see this big picture, but there is a certain amount of depth in what God's going to call you and the opportunity He's going to place in front of you. And guys, when you when you speak, when God speaks to you and you speak

A Real Moment Of Speaking Purpose

those kind of words, you identify purpose, you start encouraging people. Guys, man, it it you could see the countenance. Amazing experience for her right there in that moment from about 5,000 people on InvestFest, but you can just see her spirits lift when I said that to her. You could see her really getting in touch with the belief that, man, he sees something in me. Now, there's a couple of scriptures I want to share. I love Ephesians 4.29 and Ephesians 4.30. Ephesians 4.29 says this let no corrupt communication proceed from your mouth, except that which is necessary for the edification of the brethren. So when we look at Ephesians 4.29, it's encouragement. Let no corrupt communication, guys like jesting and picking and making fun and all of those things. I'd encourage you to just really have a conversation with the Holy Spirit and say, does this need to be a part of my life? What would it look like for you if you literally said, Ken, I want to, I want to master this frequency of encouragement. I want, I, I want to be an amplifier. Every time I get around somebody, I want to have a conversation. We just, it's funny, when we do the book launch, my good friend Randy Garn is actually doing the talk on encouragement. He's going to do a 15-minute talk in October when we do the grand opening. And then this past week, uh, yesterday, the day before yesterday, I was with my good friend David Meltzer doing an Instagram live. And Dave's one of those guys. He's one of those guys. When you get around Dave, he's going to speak life into you. He's going to point out purpose in you. He's going to encourage you. And Dave is a guy that allows you to borrow his courage.

Choosing Edifying Words From Scripture

So until you get enough momentum, it helps you get started, but until you get enough momentum to build your own courage. So encouragement, the amplifier frequency. Ephesians 4, 29 and 30. Let no corrupt communication proceed from your mouth, except that which is necessary for the edification or the building up, is what that scripture means in Ephesians of the brethren. In Ephesians 4.30, super clear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit. So what's Paul saying when he ties those two scriptures together in this letter to the church at Ephesus? What he's saying is our role as Christ followers is to speak encouragement. And guys, listen, you can even meet with somebody and tackle some hard issues or what maybe some people may consider being a rebuke or a call back to repentance. And it can still be encouraging if it's done in the right manner with the right heart. Think about it that way, guys. Think about all the instances in Jesus' life: the woman at the well, the woman with the issue of blood, all of these different things, Zacchaeus, Matthew, the tax collector, Peter, the fisherman, all of these people that Jesus approached, if you follow me 21 times in the New Testament, Jesus said, follow me. And every time he did, he encouraged and he spoke life over that individual that he was calling. Now think about it from that standpoint. Let's say Jesus with the woman with the issue of blood, the woman that at the well. You don't have one husband, you've had five, and the one you're living with now is not your husband. And she realized real quick, and listen, he didn't do that in a demeaning way. He did that with a heart. I love Romans. It says the goodness of God. It's the goodness of God, the grace of God that draws us to repentance. Guys, God's not angry with you. He's not mad at you. That's not how it operates. Will there be a day of judgment? You better believe there will. Hebrews 9.27, very clear. It is appointed once for men to die, and after this the judgment. Revelations, very clear. We will stand before God and we will give account for how we've lived our life. But for those of you that have placed your faith in Christ, you don't have to do that. Jesus will stand on your behalf. 1 John 1.9, 1 John 2.1. We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Jesus is standing there. He is your mouthpiece. He is your, in the Greek in 1 John 2.1, that's paracletos. He's your paraclete. He's your attorney. He's your mouthpiece. He does that

Truth With Grace In Hard Talks

for you. So if Jesus can approach, and again, you can do this, you can even handle tough situations the right way. When he looked at the woman at the well and she brought in the water and he says, Go and sin no more. Like he didn't blast her, he didn't draw her out. The woman that they drew at literally committing adultery and the religious people pulled her out of the house. Think about this. She's naked. She's literally there. They've got stones in their hand and they are ready to stone this woman. And Jesus, scripture says, we have no idea what he wrote down, man. This is going to be, I'm sure this is going to be one of the first questions a ton of people ask Jesus when they get to heaven. Jesus, what did you write in the dirt? What did you write in the dirt? Now love it where it says, one by one, oldest to the youngest, they drop their stones. Now, in in Jewish law, in Levitical law, that once the stony, because this is why Jesus said, those of you who are without sin, cast the first stone. Do you know who had you know who was left out of that whole group of people that had not sinned? That would be Jesus. And what did Jesus do? He looked at her, he said, Woman, where are your condemners? They're gone. Neither do I condemn you. Jesus had not only had the right, but according to the law, had the responsibility to commence that stoning. Once he threw the first stone, everybody else could follow through. But that's not how Jesus operates. So when we talk about encouragement being the amplifier frequency, I want you to understand the power you have to encourage, to breathe life into people. Again, I say this a lot, especially when we're hitting these 14 frequencies. When you walk in a room, guys, do people gravitate towards you or away from you? Guys, I walked in this weekend at Investfest, 33,300 people at Investfest. It was unbelievable the people that God connected us with, the people that God brought in my life this weekend, solely because, guys, I when I walk into a room like that, I want to be an encourager. When I walk in and I see friends like Dan Fleisman or I see friends like Natasha Graziano or Michael McDonald or Ian and any of those main keynote speakers at Investfest this weekend, like when I see those people, like my whole thing is I want to encourage you. I want to add courage to you. I want to build up and edify you because, guys, it's a hard enough battle trying to figure this out on our own. And do I have what it takes? And am I qualified? And do I have the right people in my corner? Like those things are difficult enough for us to just, to just slam people. That's why, man, listen, somebody'll say, Hey, did you see something on Instagram or did you see this? Or they posted. Listen, stop right. Can I help you out real quick? I got enough to worry about between Ken and Jesus. It ain't my job. I'm not the I'm not the Holy Spirit. It's not my job to go between all these other people I see that may or may not be in sin or may or not. That ain't my job. That's the Holy Spirit's job. Ain't Ken's. Holy Spirit comes to what? Convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Ken doesn't do that. It's not my responsibility. Ken's responsibility, according to scripture, is to speak life. Now, sometimes that can be done in correction. It can still be life if the heart is right. 1 Thessalonians 5.11, build one another up. Hebrews 10, 24 and 25, spur one another on. Proverbs 12, 25, a good word lifts the heart. Guys, encouragement takes what God has already placed inside a person and gives it oxygen. It gives it volume. It gives it momentum. Literally, what you're doing is you are blowing on that spark.

Stop Policing Others And Speak Life

And you're blowing and fanning that into flame in another person. I love that. 2 Corinthians 1:4. God comforts us so comfort can flow through us. One of my five affirmations, guys, right here, I write it down every day, twice, or actually, affirmations once a day, twice a day on my goals. One of my five affirmations, I am whole. I choose to use past pain to help others find healing. There is a purpose. So, guys, before we continue, we're going to take a quick break. I'd love for you to check this out and grab. her every year on her birthday with a post, not just a happy birthday, but a paragraph of You were my favorite teacher. As a 10-year-old boy, 11-year-old boy, parents got divorced. We moved from Pontiac, Michigan down to the Atlanta area in Gainesville, played football. I broke my left femur playing football in the fifth grade. I was in traction for six weeks. I gained like 25 pounds. I came back fat. I came back getting made fun of. It was, it was an unbelievably rough time in Ken's life. And Miss Lambert was the one. And I write specifically about the difference she made in my life. And here's this little boy. It's a phenomenal story. And she told me one time, Ken, you're stronger than you think. And this too shall pass. And I'll never forget the conversations. Even now, she's in her 80s, maybe even in her 90s. And she still encourages me. She still is. Hey, I see what you're doing. Keep doing what you're doing. I mean, at 50, I turned 58 years old

Miss Lambert And Lasting Encouragement

last Friday. So, gosh, 40 some odd years ago, for 40 plus years, and now through social media, Miss Lambert is still encouraging me to go. Still encouraging me to use that voice. So here's what I want to ask you a couple things, real quick. I want to ask you so we write down our goals, gratitude, affirmations, top three every morning. That's the steps. Goals, personal, business, gratitude. How, who are you grateful for? A lot of us guys have gratitude journals. It's a thing like where we write down where we're grateful for. Here's what I want to encourage you to do. That's great for you. And it really does something. My friend Erwin McManus says it's gratitude is the lubricant of the brain. It literally causes our brain to work at another level. But here's what I'm gonna encourage you. I want to get your, I want to get your gratitude off your paper and I want to put it on your phone. What would it look like as you're doing your gratitude journal in the morning or every morning? You put it in your phone and just said, encourage three people today. And the first thing you did in the morning was, God, give me, put three people on my heart who I can encourage. And God, let me be sensitive to your voice all day long. Guys, you have no idea how many people I will shoot a video message to, or I'll shoot a text message to, or I will literally connect them with another person that I know they need to be connected with, just to say, I love you, I believe in you, and I'm here for you. So Miss Lambert was massive for me. So sticking with that story just a little bit, I mean, literally five months ago, four months ago, as we were finishing, finalizing the book, I sent her the chapter and her message back to me, and it's in the book, you can read it, is you were and you are an inspiration. This is what encouragement does, guys. It leaves fingerprints on your soul for close to 50 years. So here's the question I would ask for you this right this morning. Number one, I asked this guy a question in my church one time. He said, Can I want to be a campus pastor? He was running our coffee uh our cafe for a service or for two services. And I said, And I just asked him this question. I said, When you walk into a room, do people gravitate towards you or away from you? And I'll never forget, sitting in my office on a Saturday morning after prayer, he just shrugged and he just his head dipped. And I said, I can help you with that if you'll let me. Guys, if you walk into a room and your first inclination is to be interesting and tell people your story and what you do, you're gonna miss out on some of the relationships and some of the amazing relationships God has for your life. But if you will walk into a room and you're like, I just want to add value, I just want to show encouragement, I just want to be someone who speaks purpose into people that identifies it and calls out greatness in people. So the question is when you walk in a room, do people gravitate towards you or away from you? Develop the superpower. And this you can do. Develop the superpower of being an encourager. Develop the superpower of speaking into people's lives and saying, here is what I see in your life. And guys, here's what I would say to you today, as you're listening to this encouragement frequency, the ample, we call the amplifier frequency

Daily Practice Encourage Three People

because it does amplify it right. You know, when you get around people, there's two types of people. And if you're watching on video, you'll see my phone right here. There's two types of people. There's people when your phone ring and you look and you see a name, you can't wait to grab it. And then there are some people that when you see their name, you go face down on the table because you don't have time for them. Because you know it's going to be a draining experience. Be an individual who lives a life and literally models a life of encouragement. Scripture is very clear: the power of life and death are in the tongue. Guys, God has given the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1 says the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives on the inside of me. He's given me the Spirit of God to live on the inside of me. He's giving me a voice that brings dead things alive. He's given me a voice that can bring courage to where someone is struggling, wonder whether or not they can pull off what God has called them to do. Be an encourager. Put it in your calendar, put it in your planner. Who can I call today? If you're listening to podcasts right now, there's three people right now I'm asking God to bring to your mind who are three people you can encourage today. You're not asking anything, you're not expecting anything in return. If you believe Galatians, that you reap what you sow, what you'll see happen is over a period of time, as you develop and become an encourager, you'll see those things start getting reciprocated in your life because scripture is very clear.
